This icon, by [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda, is so fantastic that I am compelled to make an LJ post solely to share it.

Because Edna Mode is just about the best character ever.

(I didn't do the cool effects--I just cropped this picture and added a border and text.)

All up for grabs, just comment and credit if you take any. I messed around with the coloring and contrast on all of them except the last one.

Sooooooooo, what should I buy with the five bucks this guy just PayPal'd me?

Also, I Metaquoted a great comment from [livejournal.com profile] scottchurch's journal. Definitely go look if you're a Star Wars geek. (Look in the comments if you don't remember the quote.) I created this icon just to respond to that comment, it was so fricking awesome.

I realized today, when the head of the Humanities department greeted me by name, how really connected I am at Penn Valley. I know people all the way from Brian the cafeteria janitor to the president of PVCC. I'm involved in just about everything there is to be involved in except Campus Crusade for Christ, and people know me all over the place- teachers, students, employees. It's a really nice feeling. I don't think I've ever been part of a community this large before. Really, though I hate to admit it, I have Dr. Spaulding to thank for it. She made me go to the leadership conference, and that's how I met Mindy and learned about Student Activities.

Anytown starts on Sunday. I won't have internet, phone, or personal contact with anyone outside the program, unless it's an emergency, until the 24th. Mom thinks they're going to withhold our luggage from us the first day, because it's supposed to be dropped off at a different location than we are and Sunday is the day we learn about oppression. [livejournal.com profile] slightly_wrong is the only other person I know who's going, so I'll be meeting a lot of new people. It should be fun.

I've been social lately. I've been hanging out with people from the Spectrum outside school, going to the library a lot, ran into Laura on the bus twice this week, and I have two new IM pals: Scott, the dude from St. Louis, and Phil, a guy I met at the Chuck Palahniuk book signing. I haven't been sleeping much, but I get to sleep in tomorrow.

I'm happy. There are plenty of things I could be unhappy about if I put my mind to it, but I'm honestly pretty satisfied with my lot in life right now.

Pretty!

Also, GIP.

Pics of some of the people I spend a lot of time around at Penn Valley, because I've been a bit camera-crazy lately: Kyle, Joe, Sharai, Steven and Stephanie, and Ray at the Spectrum, Matt and Noel in the TLC, Mindy and Shannon in Student Activities, and Nicky and Joe from pretty much everywhere.

I got a bunch of stuff done today, including a short opinions piece about coloring the Nichols fountain blue for the Royals. Speaking of the Nichols fountain, I was there the other day with Dan. I was grabbing the back of his neck and hollering "HAS JESUS CURED YOUR SINS YET?" (it has context, but it's funnier without it) when Karen, my boss at the TLC, walked up. Apparently she lives close to the Plaza, and was out taking a walk with her husband. I don't know if she was close enough to hear that part of the conversation, but mrah! O.o

I took a three-hour nap this afternoon, and I should get a decent (if not entirely sufficient) amount of sleep tonight, so I may be a bit less out of it in the next few days. Hopefully.

Speaking of duct tape, Robb told me this story today. His new wife had asked him to clear out for a bit so she and his six-year-old from a previous marriage could bond over an art project. He came home a few hours later to find the child bouncing around in the front yard, greeting him sweetly and obviously trying to keep him from going inside. He let her stall him for a few minutes, then she asked if she could go play with a neighbor kid. He agreed, thinking that it would probably be better for her not to be around while he and his wife cleaned up whatever mess she was acting guilty about. She danced off, and he went into the house to find his wife duct-taped to a chair with her fingers Superglued together. Apparently the kid had gotten her hands on the glue, and when the woman had tried to take it away, the kid squirted it all over her. She went to try to clean it off, but the water only made it worse. When she sat down in the chair, the kid sneaked up underneath and duct-taped a foot to a chair leg, got the other foot while the poor woman tried to loosen the first, then ran around her with the roll until she was securely fastened.

I don't think I've laughed that hard in days.

Yep, Clay's hit a dozen. One more year and he'll be a teen. Boggle.

Regardless of the fact that without it I would still be unaware of the fact that the guy who plays Silent Bob also directed "Clerks," there was never meant to be a "Clerks II." And it would suck even without the Halle Berry lookalike.

I got my first paycheck today. Seventy-something bucks, whee. I'm going to pay back some of my Christmas debt to Mom, put some in the bank account, and keep some to buy coffee, because it's rude to go to coffeeshops without buying anything and I'm getting sick of studying in the library.

One of the new French students dropped out because he apparently hadn't taken French 101 (nobody's been able to figure out how he managed to sign up for 102) and the girl from East Central is quite obviously lost (she couldn't figure out what "chien" meant even after Ms. Brandt barked at her, for god's sake), but the other new people seem to be doing well. There's one called Rachel I like a lot, and another one (Tulani? Something like that) has the most awesome, massive, corkscrewy, red-and-black Afro ever. Hair like that makes me wish I was black.

Also, Student Activities. Erica, Dylynda, and Joshua's replacement Shannon were in the office today. Josh won't be leaving until next Friday, but he has barely any hours until then, so I haven't run into him yet. Shannon... she's nice and all, and I like her, but she hasn't really gotten the SAC atmosphere yet. She locks up her desk, her computer when she isn't using it, and the office when no one's there, which nobody ever does, and she wears formal clothes too. I think she'll loosen up, though- she just has to get used to us.

You know when you're in a really good mood and then someone says something and you just plummet to feeling like complete crap in .001 seconds? That's happened to me twice today, once just now. Meh. I did get a promise for a reference letter from Zola, one of my TLC bosses. When I asked, I made sure she knew that it was okay to say no because we haven't known each other all that long... but she told me that I come very well recommended, so she doesn't have any reservations. That was nice, because it means that Mindy, Ms. Sheeley and Dr. Spaulding gave me good references, and I was kind of worried about my reputation with the last two. Casey, one of the English teachers, was working in the writing lab while I was for three hours this morning, and we had a couple of really interesting discussions. I can't remember much of it, because I was practically asleep on my feet, but I'm very much looking forward to Friday mornings from now on.

I uploaded a couple of new icons, including this one, which is a pic taken of me by [livejournal.com profile] shoutingboy at [livejournal.com profile] vito_excalibur's birthday party.

Oh, I know what will make me feel better- hair dye! I've been waiting for some free time to do this. I hope you all are well, and I wish you a happy weekend.

Jedusor had fun with Photoshop today. Nothing fancy, I'm not terribly Photoshop-proficient; just stuff I found amusing.

Three single-frame icons )

Four multiple-frame icons, because I have finally mastered Imageready )

And four of goofy pics of my friends. I only captioned one, the rest are just cropped and framed. )

Oh, and the one I made Abby for Valentine's Day. )

All are up for grabs except Abby's, just comment and credit. (Comment even if you don't take any, I'm a comment whore.)

EDIT: I think something's wrong with a muscle in the back of my knee. I can't stretch out my leg fully and it hurts when I walk or move it. Owww.

I made some icons... Friday night, I think. Anyway, they're all up for grabs, as long as you comment and credit.

And a couple ones I made a long time ago, and dug up in my icons folder (again, please comment/credit if you take):
