Games tree

So, as anyone who reads my mom's journal knows, we have recently acquired a fully decorated artificial Christmas tree. It happened sort of by accident- there was an auction of themed fake trees at Union Station, to raise money for a charity, and this one won first prize. It's decorated with cards, yo-yos, and other game-related ornaments, and had a pile of games under it. The bid on it was only $150, which is ridiculous, as the artificial tree itself must have been at least a hundred. Mom asked around, and was told that there was a big dinner that night that apparently usually sells fifteen or so of the trees. Since this one had won first prize, and was so awesome anyway, Mom placed a bid, sure that someone would outbid her. Well, no one did.

The people who were supposed to deliver it got major points for not only doing the delivery in almost-foot-deep snow, but actually showing up at the halfway point of the hour-long window they'd given us. They lugged the tree in and tried to help us find the plug for the lights. (As one of them was on the floor poking around in the branches, Wiley came up and started licking him, and he laughed and said, "Hey, buddy, we can make out after I'm done here, okay?")

Anyway, we now have a seven-and-a-half-foot tree in our living room. Pics:

Clay's pretty bummed because he wanted a real tree, but the rest of us are happy with it.

Get him a small one he can put in his room--but he has to put it up, vacuum beneath it, take it down himself.

Just a thought ;-)

Or buy him a can of pine spray, or fill the house with boughs.
