My latest Bible As Lit paper:
May. 3rd, 2005 01:16 pmGrade: 165 out of 150.0
Comments: Julia,
My comments exist to help with the next paper, so I just don't have anything to say. Great job!
Muahahahahaha. Now all I have to do is get that kind of response from Dr. Belt for the bio presentation Thursday and I won't be worried about my grades in the slightest.

Date: 2005-05-03 01:03 pm (UTC)And it works by having a completely insane teacher who really likes the shit you turn in. I got lucky, I guess; there weren't any optional bonus points or anything.

Date: 2005-05-03 01:49 pm (UTC)... the USAian teaching system is *weird*.
For one thing, we tend to get numerical marks only on exam questions (from past papers and the like) and essays get graded on the A-H, U system (where U is "ungraded" and <10% in exam questions) and it's mostly based on judgement calls (so "the student displays an imaginative and innovative approach and an appropriate language use" or some such crap); most teachers won't give out A*s (on the basis that if we then don't get them in our GCSEs we feel as though we've messed up); the idea of scoring over 100%... yeah. Just doesn't happen. :p
But well done anyway, that's bloody fantastic! :D

Date: 2005-05-04 08:45 am (UTC)I tell a lie; it appears that a G grade is occasionally available, but it varies from year to year and between exam boards. The idea behind GCSEs was that they're provide a "sliding scale", such that it'd be possible to differentiate between all the different levels of candidate. Um. Yeah. The grading system here isn't great either, and basically you've not got much chance of continuing with higher education unless you get a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C+.
And yes, HEE, Matt! Natts (the woman I was cuddling) dyed his hair :D
... *blush* thanks. Dave was mostly taking photos of me to annoy me, but yes. Um. *blush*
... and nooooooo, he's not. My dad looks like this (http://www.brettward.co.uk/images/tim.gif), or at least he did several years ago when he had more hair :p
