Oh, something I meant to mention but forgot- [livejournal.com profile] hannahrorlove has once again proven her impeccable taste in music. "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls and "Consequence Free" by Great Big Sea are my current absolute favorite songs.

So... yesterday, we went to visit Qarin, a friend of Mom's with a three-year-old and a six-month-old. Their house is a wreck, so I might be going out this summer to help them out. We got back in the afternoon, expecting Josh and Megan to be back from camping- they'd said they should be home around one. They actually got back at around seven-thirty, due to ferry troubles. Mom had three pans of lasagna all ready for them, and Corey, Heidi and Ficus (who had gone camping too) stayed to eat. At one point, we were talking about whether or not Kansas City is a shithole, and Megan said she found it rather peaceful when she visited- to which Ficus remarked, "It's peaceful because nobody is doing anything more interesting than waiting to die." I found that a quite accurate description of the KC atmosphere.

Today's Mom's birthday. I actually managed to bring the mosaic candleholder I made at the TAB workshop, wrapped in the hideous pink-and-green sock I knitted when I was ten. Some of the bits came off anyway, but I can glue them back on easily enough. Megan took me to University of Washington for a campus walking tour. UW is a pretty nice place, but it didn't really speak to me. I might apply, but I don't think I'll end up going there. The statue of George Washington was cool. The tour guide, a junior at the college, confided that she has her heart set on getting a hat onto the statue before she graduates.

Then I went out to lunch with Megan, Heidi and Megan's coworker (also named Julia). It was this Vietnamese place with a name that sounded like "fuh," but is spelled P-H-(something that looks like an O with an apostrophe and wiggly thing on the top I can't type). The food was really good. We went to a bakery and Megan bought a cherry chocolate cake for Mom.

We're leaving Seattle today...
