Con in San Antonio was absolutely fantastic. Highlights:

-Staying up until at least six AM every night, which caused me to miss both breakfast and lunch Saturday but was totally worth it
-Watching Texas Jeopardy
-Catch Phrase, snakes and soy sauce (don't ask) in Hathor's room
-Playing Pyramid with Treesong, Jangler, Panther, Artistry, Cramerica and Verve, with categories like "directions for iambic ebonics" and "things the Abominable Rain Man might say"
-Doing the Extravaganza with Wrybosh, Cramerica and QED, all of whom left me in the dust solving-ability-wise but somehow managed to make me feel included nevertheless
-Encore, which is basically combat-singing; the only songs I could come up with for the word "cowboy" were "Gay Cowboy" and "Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond Of Each Other," which cracked everyone up
-Being the subject of a group-written flat at about six AM
-The vowel gun- seriously, how much does Dart rock?

It was my first time in the South, or at least the first time I can remember (I think I went to Austin when I was a month old). I went to a steakhouse not once but twice, both times only because a group of awesome people were going. The second time, I took Link with me because Mom and Bill wanted some time alone, and ended up staying for a really, really long time. Fortunately, he was good, and it seemed to earn me back some points from earlier in the weekend when I wanted to participate in the official games instead of watch the baby.

The hidden puzzle involved Morse code and the Texas state motto, and was solved roughly 45 minutes after being made available to the con. I think the hidden puzzles need to be harder. It's tough to hide puzzles from this group, though.

Like at IJA, I saw a lot of people I haven't seen in a while, got to know some people better, and met some new people. Being a young female in a room full of geeks was awfully nice for my ego :P

We left on Monday evening. I decided on the way back, sparked by a late-night discussion, that sometimes it's better to forgive people even when they don't deserve to be forgiven. We're not going to be best friends again or anything, but there's no point in holding a grudge when it won't change anything, which at this point it won't.

[livejournal.com profile] prodigal7512 gave me the Pintsize sketch today! It is fabulously wonderful. Apparently Jeph said that no one has ever asked for that before- score! I'll post a pic as soon as I get around to taking one.

It was great hanging with you, too. Incidentally, Ed & I were playing with the snakes in the waiting area at the airport, and some kid (about 4 years old) was looking at them longingly, so Ed gave him one. The kid ended up sitting one row ahead of us, so we could tell that he held onto that snake all the way from Dallas to Boston, and his dad spent the trip telling him interesting snake facts.

Hi--you left a comment on my journal wondering who I am, and (on the off chance that you don't obsessively go back and check for responses to all the comments you make on other people's journals) I figured I'd post here. I'm Codex, and I owe you a copy of my cryptics presentation.

I get an e-mail every time someone replies to one of my comments, but thanks anyway! Good luck with the presentation, and whenever you have time to send it is fine.

Someone had a picture of Murdoch in the cop's uniform from IndyCon? Oh my.

Great seeing you -- we probably need to do another mass mailing of noms matched to LJ names so everyone knows everybody.

At Con, I spoke to Roy about creating a page on the NPL site with noms and blogs. He said it already exists, and he encouraged me to find it myself, collect the information, and post it. I don't see myself getting around to that, but here's his post-con email for any interested parties.

This is the page with blog listings:

http://www.puzzlers.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=krewe:krewehomes

Go to it, scroll to the bottom and click Edit this Page. Then, in the text box that appears, scroll down to where your information should appear in alphabetical order. Copy another line and paste it in so there are two of it. Then, edit the line to change the URL to yours and the nom to Tyger. Click Preview if you want to check, then the Save button on the next page after you're happy.

NOTE: The top half of this page is wiki-format which is much easier to read. The bottom half is HTML which is harder to read, but nobody's gotten around to changing. But, in either case, just copy and paste an existing line to create yours.

And don't worry too much if it's not quite right. On a wiki, somebody else will get around to fixing it if you mess it up.

Whatta great con it was. I had a great time hanging with you-- all those late night sleep-deprivation sessions! I hope the group flat makes it into the Enigma soon.

Late-night games are the best part of con. I got home and slept for seventeen hours straight, but it was totally worth it!

I wonder what my mom will think of the flat :P
