jeffurrynpl, this one's for you
Nov. 20th, 2007 08:11 pmAt Pier 1, associates aren't supposed to stand around at the cash register if there are no customers to check out. We're supposed to walk around, talk to people, straighten things, unload freight, etc. One slight problem with this is that we get caught up in doing something else, or are in an area of the store where we can't see the register, and customers who are ready to check out end up standing around for a while until we notice them.
I suggested to the store manager, R, that we get a bell for them to ring for service, and he said he'd bring it up to the district manager. Today, R said that he mentioned it and the district manager told him that there were already plans to implement such a system.
I couldn't resist saying, "I'm ahead of the bell curve!"
