So I read this comment on jelliclekat's LJ that said eating a spoonful of cinnamon is impossible, because it absorbs all the moisture from your mouth and triggers the gag reflex, forcing vomit. So of course I tried it.

Conclusion: eating a spoonful of cinnamon without vomiting is, while not a pleasant experience, definitely possible.

And of course I did this at 12:30 AM, so now I'm going to go to bed with one eye streaming, both nostrils running, my throat burning like the time I maced my entire poli sci class*, a taste in my mouth like the smell of those recycled-tire floors in playgrounds, and incessant spicy burps.

*Another incident that will, I'm sure, gain me admission to MENSA.

I'm sure most of these urban legends are started just to make people suffer by doing insane and awful things they couldn't be persuaded by any other means to try. :-p

Well, some such urban legends are started by the manufacturer in order to increase consumption of their product, like the "can you eat three shredded wheat" campaign in the UK.
