I finally got around to downloading Across Lite. (Yes, I've been doing crosswords solely on paper and in crappy internet applets for a year and a half now.) So where can I find puzzles online? I downloaded some from Triple Play Puzzles, [livejournal.com profile] qaqaq's project, but I'll need more soon. On the easier side is best- I may be an NPLer, but I'm not a very good one.

I discovered a couple of weeks ago that [livejournal.com profile] jelliclekat, who claimed to like dark chocolate, was referring to Hershey's and had never tried Real Chocolate. So I sent her a sampler of nine types of dark chocolate from my private stash, and I just got this in an e-mail (posted with permission): So far I have devoured the Chocolove ginger, Mon Cherri, Eclipse, hazelnut, Rapunzel hazelnut, Hachez Chocolatier, and mint leaves. (Who needs moderation where chocolate is concerned?) This stuff is amazing, holy shit. I can never eat Hershey's again. 87% cacao is delicious. *happy squirm*

By the way, I'm not sending out Christmas cards this year. I figure last year's were awesome enough to last me two years at least. I'll try to think of something else fun and original next year.

I usually do the puzzles from the NY Sun and the Chronicle of Higher Education. There are links to these and others on the right hand side of the homepage at www.cruciverb.com

Will Johnston's Puzzle Pointers points to everything you could want in an online puzzle. http://www.fleetingimage.com/wij/xyzzy/nyt-links.html

I'll add the link for the Quarterly Review of Wines puzzles, since that doesn't appear on the Will Johnston site:

[livejournal.com profile] gerald_duck tells me that Hotel Chocolat's 100% chocolatey stuff is rather good, I think. I may be misrepresenting his views.

When I was in Canada my cousin refused to let me even try Hershey's, not even as a Cultural Experience, and insisted on buying me some nice chocolate instead!

Hotel Chocolat's 100%

Oh my God, they make that?

They're not the only ones...

Best to get single-origin bean, and you've got to be careful because it can end up rather dry and bitter, but apparently if you find a good one...

If it makes you feel any better, a certain puzzle editor has never installed Across Lite...

What? How on earth does he manage that?

And DUDE, thank you so much for the NYT crossword subscription! *hugs* You rock!

He has no need for it, really: he deals only with the print version. [livejournal.com profile] ennienyc takes care of the Across Lite version.

And you're welcome for the sub! Just promise me you'll try to be diligent about solving regularly. :) I guarantee you'll surprise yourself at how fast you improve.

Absolutely! I may not finish it every day... but I did finish the Thursday one, and I think that's the first time I've solved anything harder than a Tuesday. (Toldja I suck. :P)
