Warm fuzzy politics

For me the most moving moment came when the family in front of me, comprising probably 4 generations of voters (including an 18 year old girl voting for her first time and a 90-something hunched-over grandmother), got their turn to vote. When the old woman left the voting booth she made it about halfway to the door before collapsing in a nearby chair, where she began weeping uncontrollably. When we rushed over to help we realized that she wasn't in trouble at all but she had not truly believed, until she left the booth, that she would ever live long enough to cast a vote for an African-American for president. --here

Also, Apple is donating a hundred thousand dollars to the No On 8 campaign in California. Go, Apple! I donated too, a little less than that--the first time I've ever given money to anything political, I think, unless you count the HRC membership I bought to shut Richard up. But this is a really, really important proposition to overturn, and I can't vote against it because I'm voting in Missouri.

In other news, the Google guys donated to that campaign as well, $140,000. I sure hope the campaign can come up with some better ads than this one, though. Also, don't watch any of the "yes on 8" videos on youtube, your monitor thanks you. *twitch*

I need to go to bed or something... for a second I thought you said you had donated to Clinton.

Oh? I knew Google had supported the campaign publicly, but I didn't know they'd donated. w00t!

Heh, yeah, the initials have caused a lot of confusion. I don't think you can buy a membership to Clinton, though.
