Five years
Jan. 6th, 2009 04:03 pmI've been hearing all sorts of scary things about LJ's layoffs and people moving their blogs elsewhere and the sky falling, so I decided to look into backup options. As I was doing so (this entry seems to be a good links roundup; please let me know if you're aware of other possibilities) I started wondering just how long I've had this journal. It's been a while, and by complete coincidence, today happened to be the day that I went back and checked the date of my first entry.
January 6th, 2004. Today is my fifth LJ-versary.
It feels a little weird to care about that--it's just a blog, you know? But the five years between ages thirteen and eighteen is a pretty damn important five years, and LJ has been an important part of adolescence for me, both as a place to organize my thoughts and as a social network.
