On the minus side: I made a "critical error" on the driving test (pulled out too soon in front of another car, apparently) so I do not have a driver license.

On the plus side: the examiner gave me a motorcycle license anyway. I do not know why. Three different DMV employees have told me I need to pass the drive test to get an M1 license, but she gave it to me, so I did not ask questions. And the motorcycle license was the reason I was doing this--my motorcycle training is only valid for another month, and if I didn't get the license, I'd have to do the whole $250 course over again in Massachusetts before getting a motorcycle license there.

So I got what I wanted. I am a licensed motorcyclist in the state of California.

California motorcycle licensing appears to be voodoo. On transferring my GA certification, they told me no, then yes, then take the written test, then oh we don't need the written test, then told me I was denied. Then I got an M-class in the mail.

On the other hand, that at least explains why there are so many jackass rule-breaking motorcyclists on the California freeways. (Not you, obviously!!!!)
