jedusor: (don't dream it)

I dreamed last night that I used a cryptic crossword to help someone break out of jail. In the dream, I was a guy, and the person I was trying to spring was my brother (although he wasn't any of my actual brothers).

I don't have much memory of how the puzzle helped him. Most of the dream consisted of seducing the innocent teenage son of one of the guards, convincing him we were in love, and then cheerfully stomping on his heart once I'd used him to gain access to the prison. Poor kid. My subconscious is apparently kind of a bitch.

Maybe you combined the vodka and orange juice from the puzzle to make a screwdriver, and he used the screwdriver to open an access panel, allowing him to short out an electric lock and get out... oh, wait, that was the Escape from Alcatraz extravaganza several years ago.

You snap the chalk in half and put the halves back together. Two halves make a whole. You put the hole on the wall and climb out.

I'm pretty sure most people who read my blog would get that reference. :P

I was once going to write a puzzle for an online jail-themed hunt in which letters would be embedded in the names of baked goods, a la the classic "file in the cake" escape ploy. Oh, right, and the puzzle would have resolved to something like CHECK YOUR COMPUTER FOR MORE BAKED GOODS, and you would have to figure out that the site had set a cookie (named with the puzzle's true answer) on your computer. I think the idea fell apart when I could only find like three words that were dessert names with embedded letters, or maybe I just got lazy.
