Me: Want a sip of my cranberry juice? *offers cup*
Mike: Sure. *sips*
Me: Had you ever had cranberry juice before that?
Mike: I had not.
Me: I keep it in the fridge, you know. I have ever since you moved here. It never occurred to you to try it?
Mike: Not really. It's not the sort of thing I would seek out to taste.

(five minutes later)

Mike: *looks at psychology textbook on the coffee table* I wonder what that tastes like.

It tasted pretty much like I expected.

Like a book.

Try an American flag next. It tastes like Freedom.

But isn't that what pommes frites with mayonnaise tastes like?

No, that tastes like liberté. Or poutine.

You should try tasting a rainbow. I've heard they taste like Skittles.

At a mystery hunt a few years past, someone came into our solving room (at some ridiculous single-digit-AM time) and had some sort of conversation about whether we were winning, and whether they could smell it. To which the only possible response was: "I love the smell of victory in the morning. Smells like . . . napalm."

Considering the wide variety of book smells, I would hope that it specifically tasted like a textbook.

("Textbook" is a funny word. Most books are textbooks, I would think.)
