I've always been more irritated by the fact that the curve of the d in Fed drops noticeably below the baseline established by all the other letters. It's sloppy.
On the contrary, the logo would probably look even sloppier if the 'd' and 'e' didn't drop below the baseline, because then the radii of the bodies of the those letters would be out of proportion to the other letters in the logo.
Not at all. According to the graphic designer who made it, that logo was chosen because the CEO of FedEx was the only person in a room of 12 executives to immediately notice the arrow.
Do you have a citation for that? (I've long admired that logo because of the arrow leaping out of the negative space, and it never occurred to me that people wouldn't see that. But then, I do typography.)
Gosh. If it's deliberate, I'd have expected them to make it a little more obvious. Not blatant, but at least to the point where the majority of people spot it in less than a decade without any hints or assistance. (-8
Also, I can't help wondering what on earth is the FedEx logo doing on blackchristiannews.com.
