me: Why do you even need more than one makeup thing of each type? Like, I get wearing a few different colors of lipstick or eyeshadow, but there's no real difference between the rest of it, is there?

V: Example: I have freckles. I like my freckles, so during the day I might wear a sheer foundation: even skin tone, light coverage. But if I want to use darker eyeshadow in the evening, the canvas has to be even, so I use full coverage foundation/foundation stick. Or I need a more natural mascara when I wear red lipstick and a darker mascara when I wear a natural lipcolor.
V: Then there's stuff like texture for different types of makeup, like avoiding a matte finish for nude makeup. You just look... lifeless.

me: Seriously, I have one thing of liquid eyeliner, and I don't even know where that is. I haven't touched it in months.

V: Btw, when you find that liquid eyeliner, throw it away. You can't use it for more than 3 months after you first opened it.

I'm fairly sure I have more nail polishes than discrete items of makeup. like. I use one lipstick (but mostly none), a bunch of eyeshadow (pretty colours!) and some eyeliner which is running out (and is, apparently, the 'wrong colour' for me? iunno).

I think I tend towards more femme than most of those? Some makeup is fun, but doing the whole foundation-powder-blush-mascara thing seems unnecessarily painful.

Yeaaaaaaaaaah. My most recent experience with makeup was nearly a year ago, and that was when I was being spectacularly dragged up. Before that? Lord only knows.

Nonetheless I find myself hankering after some ridiculous bright blue MAC eye make-up for future drag...

Ooh, I've got liquid eyeliner that I bought in February...of 2010. >_> I don't know where it is, but I'm totally gonna try it when I find it!

I also have a pencil eyeliner. I know where THAT is.

My wife owns some basic foundation, which I do not believe she has used in forever, and that's about it. I will be very curious to see how my daughter approaches makeup as she approaches her teenage years -- she certainly won't be able to do the stereotypical little-girl-imitating-mommy experimenting.

Daughter DOES, however, enjoy painting her nails. Preferably several colors at once. In stripes.
