First day of classes

Of course the only day in, like, three semesters that my mom has refused to drive me in to Penn Valley for no reason has to be a) the first day of classes, b) the first day of my job at the TLC, c) the day after I was woken up at 2 AM by a squalling child and couldn't get back to sleep for friggen forever, and d) the day my morning routine was thrown fifteen minutes behind due to my brother's bathroom-stealing.
Karen put me on info desk, which was basically sitting behind a table regulating candy distribution and repeating, "There's no teacher in your classroom because you're supposed to be in LR [room number], not HU [room number]" about 50,568 times. (Seriously, 90% of the people that needed help had that problem.) Then I hung out with Joe, Nicky and Sharai for a while. They had those yummy cookie sticks with the twisty creamy stuff in them, but I was a good little vegan and abstained. There was also a plush soccer ball, which was used for attempted murder several times.
Newswriting and Reporting is gonna be friggin awesome, but a LOT of work. That's really all there is to say about it at this point.
French was pretty much the same as last semester, only there are new people and we now have to deal with two other colleges on the screen instead of one. It's weird, but I think it'll work out okay once they've gotten the hang of the microphones. Madame Brandt can't do an honors project with me this semester, but if I transfer to Reed, my honors credit won't really matter anyway.
Then I sat around in the TLC for another hour and a half, scribbling out ideas for a poster about why we don't proofread. Rob, someone I know through PTK and A4BG, showed up to talk to Matt and the three of us ended up having a discussion that lasted until ten minutes after I was supposed to get off work. No students showed up.
I bused to the library again and studied for an hour or so. I'm becoming more and more optimistic about biology at the same time as becoming less and less so about history. We shall see what happens.
Mindy, the Student Activities Coordinator, and Nancy Harrington, last semester's honors seminar teacher, have both agreed to write me letters of reference, as well as
zdmania, who is a graduate of Reed. I have a list of other people to ask as well. The Reed admissions office said I could include more letters of reference than the required number, which they may regret if I get as many as I'm hoping to.
