-I am home. Airport security has been uncharacteristically easy on this trip.

-Watchmen is an absolutely excellent graphic novel, and if you haven't read it, I highly recommend borrowing it from me. As soon as Clayton, Bill and Cordell have finished it, in that order.

-Last night, I called Sharai from the beach and she told me that Ray had talked to her about the open executive editorial position, and we joked about fighting to the death over it. Today, Craig told her that he wants us both to have it. Eeeeexcellent.

-I lost the piece of paper with my tutoring hours on it, and I'm supposed to work tomorrow morning. I guess I'll just show up when the TLC opens tomorrow just in case, and copy down my hours from the chart then.

-Textbooks might have been a good thing to procure before the first day of classes. Ah, well. I'll pay for my procrastination by waiting in line for three hours tomorrow.

-I want a "Hello My Name Is" sticker, so I can write "Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." on it and wear it tomorrow. Sadly, I have no "Hello My Name Is" sticker. Perhaps I'll drop by Student Activities tomorrow and see if they have any.

-I cracked up out loud at today's QC strip. And then cracked up again at the idea of [livejournal.com profile] prodigal7512 doing his geek-smacking in a nun outfit.

Anybody feel like taking me to see "Snakes on a Plane" sometime after 3:15 tomorrow? Look at my icon- you know you want to buy that girl a movie ticket.

Welcome home! I loved reading about your tour and all the college visits. I'm sorry I've been a lousy friend and haven't been commenting. I've been too busy -- well, being self-involved, basically. Umm, that's a good excuse, right? *hugs!*

How dare you have a life outside LiveJournal! I mean, really. The nerve of some people.

Yay Watchmen! I lend it out all the time and sometimes don't get it back-- been through several copies that way. Also, feel free to swipe my Inigo icon.

So, is it Bard or Amherst? [begin final jeopardy theme]

I suspect that this will happen to me as well. I love sharing books that I've enjoyed.

I'm going to apply to more than one school, of course. Bard, Amherst and Reed (which I've loved since I visited it over a year ago) are pretty much tied for first place. I think I'll also apply to Brandeis, Harvard and Sarah Lawrence. Though they're my current second choices, I'm not sure I'd be able to resist Harvard's financial aid should I be admitted. But there's no point worrying about that now.

....Well we DO have a Masquerade at all of our events, so I could dress like a nun, but I doubt I could fight in such an outfit.

You should totally do it. You would be seriously adorable in a nun outfit :P

Well actually the Wraiths are planning on dressing up like humans for the Masquerade since we're technically all undead or monsters. :P

SHUSH, WOMAN. I am allowed to enjoy dorky movies, goddammit. I'm proud of liking "Little Nicky"!

You never read Watchmen until now?!

It's not my fault! You older people have to help me out with these cultural touchstone things!

Well there's nothing else to top it so I guess you're all set! :)

But if you want to try some more Alan Moore, the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is your next stop. (Act like the movie version never happened and you'll be fine.)

And if you're doing comics collections, Swamp Thing was what made his name. It's hard to believe that those stories started over 20 years ago.

I've heard that V for Vendetta is excellent, and I liked the movie version of that. I did watch League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, but I saw it on Valentine's Day with my girlfriend, so there really wasn't a lot of watching going on. I don't remember liking what I did see, though.

I'm not "doing comic collections"- in fact, I don't even know what that means. I didn't actively seek out Watchmen; my friend Paul got it for me for my birthday. I'm very glad that he did, though!

meaning buying the collected graphic novels of stuff that already appeared in comic book form.

And when it comes to almost anything adapted to the big screen (especially Alan Moore), the movie is anywhere from bad to so-so. The original is where it's at. From Hell is probably Alan Moore's best work, and the movie is nothing like it.

I don't know which is worse the Snakes or the Adam Sandler. I can't even imagine the mocking that will ensue.
