CA Trip, Installment 2

Yum. Motorcycle. *wants*

We wandered around Dublin High School for a while.

I could move to California right now and live in the Bay Area, the residence of my dreams, if I agreed to spend my days in this place.

A scary thought.

Hannah found ducks in a ditch we passed.

My hair is awesome.

Hers isn't bad, either.

You should have seen the woman who got into this car. She really did look like a Barbie, albeit several feet shorter.

We don't have stuff like this in Kansas City.

I want a lightbulb like this.

I tried to get a picture of the hummingbird, but this was the only one slow enough to let me snap it.
Hannah brought me a jar of coconut oil. It was a bit dented, though, and it was leaking slightly. So we decided we had to use it all up before I went back to Kansas City. Jeanette had no egg replacer, so keeping everything vegan wasn't easy, but we managed it.

This wasn't feasible to make, but I love the name.

Hannah gave me the Davis button, and the other one was sitting on a shelf, so I (as Hannah put it) filched it.

We made a hell of a mess in the kitchen.

But we had a hell of a good time doing it!

We did in fact use up every bit of the coconut oil.

Coconut raisin spice cake.

A slice of the spice cake with coconut frosting.

Coconut maple applesauce.

Coconut cookies.

Some of the cookies were too oily, and we baked them for a little too long, but we broke them up and they made excellent taffy.

We put the "taffy" on some Purely Decadent soy chocolate ice cream. It was delicious.

Coconut biscuits with (not-coconut) gravy.

Coconut lemon ice cream pie. It wasn't supposed to be ice cream pie, but the filling didn't gel, so we froze it.

It was much better than I expected it to be.

The rice pudding didn't turn out so well, but we strained out the rice and raisins, and the leftover milky stuff is quite tasty. I'm thinking it would be good on cereal.
And a few pictures of Hannah, including one of the cutest photos ever taken:

The Hannah hair.

She'd never played with one of these.

I bought her footie pajamas for her birthday. With the pigtails and the teddy bear, there's almost too much cute.
After we finished cleaning up the kitchen (sort of- we left a few of the dishes for the morning), we watched High Fidelity. It was quite good. I think I've seen it before, but it must have been a while ago, because the memory was very vague.
If anyone I'm seeing this week wants to try any of the coconut stuff (with the exception of the biscuits, all of which we ate), let me know and I'll try to bring some with me.

Date: 2007-03-13 08:39 pm (UTC)Whoa. Major attitudinous expression, girlfriend.
You don't have ivy? Or suburbs? Or, ummmm... (*squints*) ...cars from the 70s?
That is freakin' cute.
I love High Fidelity.
BTW, how's the toe?
Also BTW, thank you for the compliment about my conversational skillz! That was very sweet. Anyway, you're easy to talk to.

We don't have ivy. At least, not on random streets in the suburbs.
The toe is... well, I can walk on it okay, but it still hurts when I bend it. Also, you can see now that it's injured. I'll probably post a picture, 'cause it looks kinda cool. Hannah said it looked like internal bleeding.
Anyway, you're easy to talk to.
I think you and I have very similar ways of thinking, and similar opinions, and that makes it really easy for us to communicate. Just another sign that I need to move my ass out here, I suppose! ;)

Date: 2007-03-14 11:11 pm (UTC)Have you seen a doctor about the toe? It could be broken. ...Of course, the conventional wisdom is that seeing a doctor about a possible broken toe is pointless, because the doctor will just tape it to the other toes, and you can do that yourself if you think it's broken. But, I don't know -- me, I'd want it x-rayed.
In any case, hugs to you and owie-toe. Feel better soon!

Date: 2007-03-15 12:21 am (UTC)As for the doctor, meh. If an X-ray were easy and free, I'd do it for shits and giggles, but like you said, there's not a lot of point. Jeanette thinks it's broken, but I doubt that. It doesn't hurt as badly as it did Sunday, and I don't think bones heal that fast. But thanks! :)
