I don't like his handling of immigration, welfare, civil liberties, separation of church and state... mainly the same reasons that you and I disagree on most areas of politics. And that whole "racaille" thing after the riots bothers me. When a large number of people (what was it, almost 3,000?) are unhappy enough with something to go out to the streets and risk everything in order to change it, that's a problem with the system, not a problem with the people.

Yup, I think that really is the difference between us--I'm a lot more comfortable saying "sounds like 3,000 punks". (And evidently the French electorate feels the same way...)
I am pretty upset about this, indeed. Unfortunately, I don't think Segolène and the Socialist party were well prepared enough for this election. *sigh* I still can't believe there are 53% people out there who truly believe that this man is a good man for our country.
