jedusor: (don't dream it)

(I remember this conversation very clearly, but I have absolutely no memory of the rest of the dream.)

“I apologize for the low lighting-“
(bumping into something) “-oops-“
“-the cutlery (we have all the cutlery that is, has been, or will be)-“
“-wow-”
“-and the sensory deprivation windows.”
“Ouch!”
“Your room number is somewhere between 814 and 830, but I’m afraid I can’t ruin the mystery by telling you exactly which it is. Have a nice stay.”

(I have no idea why sensory deprivation windows would cause pain.)

You* were actually wowing at the windows, and ouching at the cutlery, and the windows just got your senses all mixed up.

* Or whoever Person 2 was.

"It didn't work," said the King. "The cloak of invisibility didn't work."
"Yes, it did," said the Royal Wizard.
"No, it didn't," said the King. "I kept bumping into things, the same as ever."
"The cloak is supposed to make you invisible," said the Royal Wizard. "It is not supposed to keep you from bumping into things."
"All I know is, I kept bumping into things," said the King.

There's clearly supposed to be a liar-truthteller logic puzzle after this that lets you figure out your room number.

Are "sensory deprivation windows" even a thing, now that I think about it? Windows would seem to work at cross purposes with the idea of keeping things from getting in.

No, they are not a thing. Nor does there exist a collection of all the cutlery that is, has been, or will be. Nor, I am pretty sure, would the Secret of the Room Number scenario ever occur.

(Except at the Mystery Hunt. But I wouldn't be surprised to find a massive cutlery collection or a sensory deprivation window at the Mystery Hunt, either.)

(We should totally have teams solve a puzzle to locate their headquarters next year.)

Somewhat belated thought . . .

Are you sure the conversation didn't go as shown here (http://www.math.uchicago.edu/~wald/conversationpiece.html)?
