I've been sitting here for fifteen minutes, watching the world go by and thinking about its physiology, how insane and wonderful it is that everything works so well, that existence has come as far as it has and that it has the potential to just keep getting cooler.
Every time I say something like that, my friends start getting all nostalgic for college. Does that mean you grownups never get caught up in the sheer awesomeness of everything anymore?

In some cases I think I get more boggled by the world than I used to. Because when I was a kid and learning about this stuff, I didn't have any context, you know? I just sucked in the facts like a little sponge. Now I'll see a picture of like, an elephant, and have to stop and go "Holy shit! Elephants are so weird-looking! Look at that fucking nose! Jesus!" And when I was a kid I remember just sort of taking that for granted, yup, elephants have big noses.
